The PSA will be running its first professional developd lecture Friday 31 July. This will be an exciting opportunity to hear from experienced clinicians, and hopefully gain some knowledge for future clinical situations.
The first lecture will cover Anterior Cruciate Ligament injuries, with respected orthapaedic surgeon Cam Fary and Essendon Physiotherapist Paul Wise both talking about their experience and opinions. Also, a prominent AFL footballer will be dropping by to tell us all about the rehabilitation required when returning from the dreaded knee reconstruction.
If that isn’t enough to get you along to this rare opportunity, the PSA will also be providing refreshments after the lecture.

La Trobe’s night of nights, Friday 24th April 2009
There are certain events in life you just don’t want to miss. Your team’s footy grand final. Your first child’s birth (especially if you’re the mum). That first magical physio skills prac where everyone gets their kit off.
But then there are events that you CAN’T miss ( eg Your girlfriend’s mum’s birthday, your supreme court trial for murder, your attempt to prevent the Kennedy assassination) lest you be ostracized from society all together.
Physio Ball is the latter.
It is the be all and end all of the social calender in physiotherapy. Period. It is a night to drink a few vodka-lemon-limes with those people who you thought you would never see out of trackies. Have a dance. A possible disco pash that will add some spice to your physiology prac. Legends are made. Stories accrued. But most of all, it is a way to get to know everyone that you go to uni with, despite the divisive common first year (booo).

Hands for Health, held on the 11th of march, was a complete success. Period.
The PSA raised $819.70 for the day, all of which will go to the Alfred burns unit and help the unfortunate bushfire victims of Black Saturday.
Congratulations to all those involved, and a big thank you to Kirby, Marty, Alex, Lachy and Luke who did a stellar job organising the event. Also, another thankyou to those who donated their time and magic hands to such a worthy cause. Finally, to those who received massages and donated; thankyou and come back next year!
Don’t forget that you can all still contribute to the cause by raising money at home/work by massaging friends and taking their details for a tax deduction (if they want). All forms and money to be collected before the 9th of April - speak to a PSA rep for more details or email us at admin@latrobepsa.com
Don’t know that cute guy who always sits at the back left of WLT2 is, but have wanted to chat since o-week? Want to have a few quiet (silent?) beverages with the people you will spend four years with? Well Physio camp is your opportunity first years.
Anyone but first year greenhorns remember Physio Camp. The P Party! The fellow physio Fun and frivolity! The realisation during Miss Physio that the blokey footballer you’re mates with fills out that little black dress suspiciously well. And all out in the country where even Dick Cheney and his CIA goons can’t find you. Great times all round.
Running from the 20th-22nd of March at the Allambee camp in Gippslands, Physio camp is an incredible opportunity to meet new people and identify with your fellow physio students. Open to first years (and second years who either missed the boat or want to go again) it is the first major social event of the year, and well worth getting out of work/footy/netball/church/court enforced volunteer order for that weekend.
Ali, Mel Jinks and chief will now be selling tickets at 2PM FRIDAY the 13th in hs3 525.
Contact chief on 0431853691 if you have any queries.
