PSA Reps

Marty Ayres - 4th year / President

marty3

As a youngster Marty dreamed he would become an elite athlete or maybe a musician, however in both instances he was let down by his lack of actual talent. He learned about Physio whilst being dry needled on a hockey trip and has never looked back. Passionate about his future carreer in Physio, Marty also spends much of his time co-ordinating the PSA.
When he’s not on the phone to organise Professional Development Lectures, he enjoys heading to the beach and playing hockey (not at the same time).

Kirby Jones - 4th Year/ Vice President

A born and bred Tassie girl, Kirby decided to join the realms of LaTrobe Physio thinking that in Melbourne she would have kirbya better chance of massaging more hot male athletes- because that’s what Physio’s all about, right?
Despite her initial disappointment when realising that there was more to Physio than this, the lifestyle of a Uni Student living on campus had drawn her in and she was hooked.
So now she sits 3 years later wondering how in the world she’s going to cope in the real world once Uni’s over!

Annie Rose - 4th Year

annie1Another Tassie girl, Annie accepted her position into physio because it was a good middle ground between nursing which seemed a little too gross (too much contact with bodily fluids etc) and medicine which looked like too much hard work (and she just loves her sleep). Unfortunately during placement Annie spent half of her time taking patients to the toilet, and half the time losing sleep over ridiculous evidence based practice criteria…so it didn’t really work as planned.
However, she still maintains she’s picked the right profession, and knows it can only go better from here.

Nick Rees - 4th year

nick

Nick was drafted to the La Trobe Physio school after a 13 year career at primary and secondary school. He was selected for his quick wit, good nature and all too famous “terrible” jokes. Since joining La Trobe he has further enhanced these skills to become one of the worst joke tellers going around. He can often be found in a rubbish bin after ‘crap joke retaliation’. He is also known for his disastrous haircuts.

Alexander Rahill - 3rd year/ Treasurer

alex1Alex’s inspiration to become a neurological physiotherapist came from musical influences such as ‘the strokes’.  His ambition is to be the lead physiotherapist in ‘the Rolling Stones’ or triangle player for Rod Stewart.  Alex begins everyday with an egg white omelette and enjoys re-stringing tennis racquets and guitars.

Elka Troedson - 3rd Year

elka1After graduating from school in Hong Kong, Elka was unsure of what she wanted to do with her life. She spent 4 Years doing Counselling in QLD only to find out she needed a change of direction herself; so she decided to return to Uni at Latrobe where Physio seemed appealing.
She is much better at being a lady of leisure but after it all realises the importance of a good career for her future.

Lauren Brereton - 3rd year

laurenLauren has always wanted to work with people in the health field, and after an ill fated dance move and subsequent trip to the physio she had found her calling in Physiotherapy and has loved every moment of it since. When not studying, she loves to practise on the guinea pigs at the local footy club and scrutinise the running action of the person on the treadmill in front of her at the gym.

Lachy Bromley - 2nd Year/Secretary

lachybrom1Lachy wanted to be a physio growing up because he hated the idea of being stuck behind a desk (also explains his lack of study). He spent much time at various Physios priming his body for the rigours of 3rd grade hockey and Sunday arvo mixed basketball, and decided to pursue it as a career. He enjoys short walks on the beach and a good yarn.

Melanie Jinks - 2nd year

mel1After a year of exercise science, Mel knew Physio was for her. Why not? The idea of doing massage on hot, buff athletes such as Russell Robertson, any girl would be crazy to say no!
The only thing stopping her is her short attention span when it comes to study week.

Matt Hamilton-Ho - 2nd year

matt h-hoMatt decided to give up a promising and lucrative career in finance to pursue his dream of being the physiotherapist for the Polish women’s volleyball team.  In a cruel twist of fate, this meant he had to put his commerce degree on the shelf in order to while away another four years in the Agora perusing the local talent.  Matt enjoys croquet, boat shoes, blue vein cheese platters and has a penchant for the spectacular.

Luke Cosgrave - 2nd year/ Interschool Relations

lukecozy1Luke wanted to study physiotherapy because he hated the idea of spending the rest of his life looking at feet. He gave up his degree in podiatry to end up walking people around hospital wards on placement. Luke enjoys getting sun burnt at the cricket with an ale in hand.

Ali McKenzie - 2nd Year

ali1Ali’s indecisive nature left her unsure about which way to head; design industry or sports/health industry. Decided on physio when she realized how it incorporated her passion for sport, helping people & her interest in human movement. Dream job is to work with a ski team or anywhere in the vicinity of the snow!

Rhiannon Streitberger - 1st Year

rhiRhiannon was undecided when she finished year 13 in London. Should she go to Birmingham Uni for a fully funded course and return with a confused cockney accent. Or should she risk it for Physiotherapy at La Trobe with its glorious weather, unique uni life, and girls who play sport and not just straighten their hair.  She chose the latter with no regrets (but just maybe she misses the odd cup of tea).  When she’s not enjoying her common first year studies, you’ll find her on the hockey pitch, the soccer field or in the pool.

Tom Cooper - 1st Year

Tom sold his soul to the devil to undertake the International Baccalaureatetom in order to get into Physio at La Trobe. Now making up for lost time, Tom enjoys getting involved in anything he can get his hands on. He particularly enjoys playing guitar, competing and patrolling at Torquay Surf Life Saving Club and having a drunken debate about the meaning of life. He ultimately wants to be a physio on the ASP World Surfing Tour medical team as well as doing some charity work.

Jenni Bates - 1st Year

jenJen began her physio career with a “bang,” on physio camp 09. She plans on pursuing a career in oiling up the best and “brightest” AFL super stars, by any means possible… within the confines of the law. Her social life was destroyed in year 12 as she undertook the IB diploma program just to get into the physio course, so she is now unleashing the wrath of her sexual frustration on the unsuspecting physio faculty.

Feel free to call, any time of the day or night for a “therapeutic massage.”

Radeyan Sazzad - 1st Year

Radeyan decided on perusing physiotherapy as a career radeyansolely to add to his already extensive list of ‘claim to fames’.  Since coming to Latrobe, Radeyan has realised the only credible way of learning is through enquiry. Radeyan spends most of his time searching markets for headbands and evading immigration.

Indi Franke - 4th Year Bendigo

Tina Panayiotou - 3rd Year Bendigo

tinaTina decided to study physio to a) have an excuse to move out of home and party and b) an excuse to be in men’s soccer change rooms… so far it has worked a charm. When she’s not strapping ankles or listening to a relative talk about their painful back she’s finding new ways to procrastinate
