What do you think of when I say ‘Melbourne Uni’? Ralph Lauren Polo’s. Placement stealing. Gold bullion. Having to sit the UMAT. Engineering students using their degrees to build unnecessarily complicated beer bongs. Soy latte’s.
Well that may just be me (this author’s opinion doesn’t represent that of management- Ed.). But it’s fair to say there is no love lost, right? Okay, so you’re indifferent because you have never met anyone from Melbourne, let alone a MU physio student. Well try to fire up son/daughter!
Formally slated as a footy match, the PSA and MUPSS will be facing off in a winner takes all, best-of-three netball tournament at Melbourne Uni to decide who is the pre-eminant physio faculty in Victoria.
Having smashed MUPSS last year in both the footy match and the pub crawl, they want revenge. Sweet revenge. And after we denied their proposal of synchronised swimming, and our proposal of cage fighting was deemed ‘too exclusionary’, netball was agreed upon.
So get down to melbourne uni on Friday the 25th September. Bring your court shoes. Bring your figure hugging body suit. Bring some Ice Cold Beers/premixed lollywater. Bring your game face. This rivalry is stepping up a notch…
ps there will be a barbecue during the game and the famous PUB CRAWL afterwards.
Event: LTU-PSA Vs MUPSS Netball match
When: 3-5pm, 25th September
Where: Melbourne University Netball courts (in the middle of the Athletics track)
Vibe: Banter. Bring some refreshments, and be ready for the barbecue and pub crawl afterwards!

Also, a prominent AFL footballer will be dropping by to tell us all about the rehabilitation required when returning from the dreaded knee reconstruction.
If that isn’t enough to get you along to this rare opportunity, the PSA will also be providing refreshments after the lecture.

La Trobe’s night of nights, Friday 24th April 2009
There are certain events in life you just don’t want to miss. Your team’s footy grand final. Your first child’s birth (especially if you’re the mum). That first magical physio skills prac where everyone gets their kit off.
But then there are events that you CAN’T miss ( eg Your girlfriend’s mum’s birthday, your supreme court trial for murder, your attempt to prevent the Kennedy assassination) lest you be ostracized from society all together.
Physio Ball is the latter.
It is the be all and end all of the social calender in physiotherapy. Period. It is a night to drink a few vodka-lemon-limes with those people who you thought you would never see out of trackies. Have a dance. A possible disco pash that will add some spice to your physiology prac. Legends are made. Stories accrued. But most of all, it is a way to get to know everyone that you go to uni with, despite the divisive common first year (booo).
Physio Ball 2009
Where: San Remo Ballroom, 365 Nicholson St, Carlton North.
When: 7.30pm-12.30am, Friday 24th April, 2009
Theme: Vintage
What you get: 3 course meal, OPEN BAR including SPIRITS (ouch). Live band and DJ (not HighStreetMassive DJ’s, as they were too expensive. sorry)
Cost: $85 PSA Members, $90 non-members
Afterparty venue TBA. Speak to your PSA reps for tickets or general information.
Its Time…
